Picking up where part 1 left off, the next two sets follow in the same vein with a decidedly more t-dance feel.  Massive and I mean MASSIVE house classics are included in this set.  North Carolina’s Peyton is represented with the original Eric Kupper production of “A Higher Place” as well as the oh so hard to find “This Is Your Life” by Mount Rushmore presents Celeste.

AHP is a big house classic bordering on gospel.  It may even surprise you that the big soulful voice of Peyton is coming out of a white gay man.  Full of optimism, it moves and lifts the spirits to another dimension.  The latter song was originally included in a MOS compilation from 2000 and has long since been out of print.  It’s taken me 5 years to track this down and when I did, it was a vinyl rip.  Having worked my magic on it, you would never know.  The origin of this song dates back to the early 90s when it was originally performed by Bandera.  At the time, it was a minor, but memorable hit for them.  In fact, Moony even did a remake on her debut album in 2001 and 7th Heaven worked their magic on the original, which came out last year.  Frankly, it’s this version by Celeste that I’ve always loved and I am proud to finally present it to you on this set.  The lyrics alone are worth their price in gold, but it’s Celeste’s vocals that really shine and make this such a fantastic song.  For those of you that have muddled your way through life and haven’t quite lived up to your potential [clear throat], you’ll feel an immediate connection to this song.

I’ve thrown in two early Freemason’s classics “In My Mind” and “Lovin You More” by Heather Headley and Steve Smith.  Both are uplifting house classics, even though the subject matter of IMM is rather somber if not depressing (you would never know).  Another personal favorite from 2007 is the Junior Vasquez produced “Save a Place on the Dancefloor For Me” by the soulful songstress Dawn Tallman.  This to is up there in my all-time favorites and should be played at my funeral if anything ever happened to me (I’m just sayin’).

Deep Dish’s remake of the Fleetwood Mac classic “Dreams” had been floating around the internet for about a year before Stevie Nicks agreed to go back into the studio and re-record the vocals for a new take.  As a huge Stevie fan, I can’t begin to tell you how pleased I was with the final outcome.  Afro Medusa’s #1 Latin classic “Pasilda” needs no introduction.  This song has been re-worked by ATFC and more recently Seamus Haji to great affect.  I’ve included the original Knee Deep production for posterity’s sake, which will whisk you back to the summer of 2000.

The final three songs are absolute stunners!  “Rise” the debut by Samantha James was all the buzz at WMC that year and Andrea Britton’s “Counting Down the Days” was one of those slow burners that kept heating up the charts and radio one week at a time.

Finally, Mark Picchiotti and Dana Devine deliver the summer anthem of all anthems!  “Turn It Up” was a massive hit that came in all flavors.  Whether you were into circuit or electro the song managed to cross the entire spectrum of house music.  Kenny Hayes delivered a ball of sunshine with his production landing itself into one of my top ten all-time favorites.

From start to finish, I think everyone who’s into happy house will love this set.  All I can think about is summer, summer oh yeah, and summer when I listen to this mix.  I’ve got the equally stellar third set ready for delivery on Saturday.  I’ve already starting work on the Spring Edition, which by all accounts is pretty deep, dark and very circuit oriented.  Lot’s a great stuff in there so stay tuned.  I’ll be back in a couple of days.  Until then, enjoy!

I have decided to splinter off this new series from the Chrome Edition.  The Millennium Edition will consist of club classics released in the passed decade, while the Chrome Edition will be strictly used for 90s classics.  I plan on deleting the decade sets from the Chrome Edition and going back periodically to create compilations of a variety of classics spread out over the decade.  You can be certain, there is a lot of great stuff I haven’t even touched from that era yet.

Starting things off, these first three sets land squarely in the T-Dance arena.  The majority of future sets will be more mainstream club mixes, but I wasn’t feeling it at the moment.  I needed some happy house to get me through this past week, and this is exactly what the doctor prescribed.

Originally, my intention was to create a 100 best of the millennium set, but I didn’t really think that was possible.  Oh sure it is, but ultimately I would be leaving out so many great songs, that I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.  While the overwhelming majority of songs in this and future sets have landed at the top of the charts, it’s those songs that never charted, yet received massive attention here and abroad that I want to be able to add to the mix.  So, I took it upon myself to decide what goes into this series and I hope everyone is happy with my picks.

So here it is, the first of three new sets in the Millennium Edition, that I am making available this week.  All songs have been handpicked for quality, value, meaning and substance by yours truly.  I hope you feel this the same way I do.  Those that haven’t signed up for the premium service will be happy to know, this one’s OTH.  I’ll be back on Thursday with volume two.  Until then, enjoy!

I apologize for the delay, but I’ve been really busy working on the site and trying get all the back-end stuff fixed after Google left me out for dry.  No need to worry, this doesn’t concern most of you that have been following this site for a long while.  It mainly concerns those that are just now coming on board, and by the looks of it, there are many PF newbies!

In the meantime, I’m serving up a platter of deep, dark and delicious house music with a side of hot sauce to keep it extra spicy.  In fact, the majority of this set is pretty much peak hour, big room madness that explores the darker side of the progressive movement, while keeping the hooks a plenty!

The first three songs come at you like a ton of bricks.  Mr. Malo’s remake of the 1988 hi-nrg classic “S-Express” and Hi-Tack’s production of the 1999 Trance classic “Out of the Blue” by System F stay true to the originals while updating the sound for today’s floors.  The latter is nothing short of sweeping, majestic pleasure recalling the original with layer upon layer of thick heavy synths.

Since we’re on the remake kick I also dropped the Ultra Nate 90’s big house classic “Free.”  You may remember the breezy, bouncy Bob Sinclar take on my recent T-Dance Edition; well Teo Moss and Daniel Shems take the progressive route and deliver something new and fresh.  I was thinking the other day that I may very well expedite  Ultra through the nomination process and honor her by inducting her into the Diva Hall of Fame.  Stay tuned.

Every few years, Ish Ledesma of the late 70s group Foxy (Get Off), takes his late 80s girl group Company B and remixes one of their hits.  Over the years, “Fascincation” has definitely had it’s share, including a complete re-work by the fabulous Suzanne Palmer.  However, none of them ever really stood out for me; that is until now.  Veteran  DJ/producer Giuseppe D. had the good sense to keep the hooks of the original, while giving it that Millennium punch it desperately needed.  On the opposite end, Players Please deliver an unlikely progressive rendering of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “The Power of Love.”  Deep, very dark and definitely delicious!

Toni Braxton’s latest “Make My Heart” get’s a series of re-works courtesy of Atlanta records, her current label.  None of the original three that were sent out as promos made the final cut.  Instead, they went with other producers to promote this release.  Shame, because I am totally in love with the Behrouz remix, which is why I kept it in the set.  Regardless, their choices were still outstanding and you can expect the Alexander and Mark VDH production to be hitting up the Spring Edition.

Another BIG winner for me is “Ready For the Fight” by the always unpredictable Young Punx.  While there is a big electro remix by Wes Clarke, it’s all about the Gramaphonedzie (Marko Milicevic) remix for me.

Frankly, I think this entire set is one giant masterpiece of late night mayhem and I’m certain you’ll agree.  As promised, this one is OTH.  I’ll be taking the rest of the week off to give myself a break and allow you folks to digest everything that has already been posted this year.  I should be back the following week with the first two of a year long project I will be starting “Chrome: Millennium Edition (the First 10 Years).  It also appears that the Spring Edition will make an early appearance this year and of course I’m already lining ‘em up for the next T-Dance set, which by all accounts is shaping up to be pretty darn funky.

That’s all I got for today.  It’s hump day, so time to start thinking about the weekend.  After all, it’s all downhill from here!  I’ll be back next week.

Until then, ENJOY!

Before I get into this current set, I thought I would discuss some issues about the Fan Page http://www.facebook.com/partyfavorz that have been brought to my attention.  Several of you have indicated that you couldn’t access it via Facebook.  The only thing I can think of is that my privacy settings were locked down.  I’ve since lifted the restrictions and hopefully that will no longer be an issue.  You can always click on the “info” tab in my profile which has a link to the Fan Page, or you can access it via my site http://www.partyfavorz.net/, where I have a badge in the right hand column.  For those that haven’t signed up for the Fan Page, whatcha waitin’ for?  Whenever I post to my site, it will automatically be updated on my Fan Page and Twitter + I also send out an email to ensure receipt.

I have also added several tabs on my site that I think will answer a lot of your questions.  There is a “premium” tab which details how the site works, there is an “iTunes” tab with very specific instructions (including pictures) on how to download my podcasts via the service.  That’s important for subscribers to the premium service.  Since there are two feeds on my site; one for the “free” podcasts and the other for “premium” you will need to add both in iTunes to ensure you get everything.

I also added an FAQ section which has everything, and I mean EVERYTHING.  It answers virtually all questions about my site, including downloading, subscribing, RSS updates, email updates, how premium works including passwords and problems new users may encounter getting it to work.  It’s all there.  For those that prefer not to read, that’s fine, I’ll be more than happy to answer your question via email.  Just remember, I can’t be a slave to my computer so my response may not be as forthcoming as you might like, but I WILL get back to you.  Odds are, your question has already been answered in the FAQ section, so give it a try first.

Since I’ve expended much of my capital on information about the site, I’ll just let this mix speak for itself.  It’s much in the same vein of the previous set with some seriously smoking tunes all wrapped up in a neat little package that falls just under 80 minutes for the CD burners amongst you.

It’s yet another fabulous day in the ATL and I am so looking forward to getting out and enjoying it.  I’ll try to make it back tomorrow for the final set (which is on the house) before taking a week off to work on some other projects, including the finalization of the Millennium series that I plan on rolling out in two weeks.  I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and as always, ENJOY!

As the days just keep getting better, so does the need to P-A-R-T-Y like it’s 2010!  In keeping with that theme, I’m serving up volume 2 of the BPM Edition.

Kicking things off, is the latest from Lifehouse.  While we all know this group as the mainstay of Top 40 meat and potatoes rock, their latest effort stays true to their roots, with hooks a plenty.  Jody Den Broeder takes a shot at it, and delivers a surprisingly delicious dance production that even I had to take notice.

We also get Adam Lambert’s second release with the Pink penned tune “Whataya Want From Me” with Fonzerelli doing the remix honors.  This is just one of several great songs off of his amazing debut “For Your Entertainment.”  What’s sad is that ATL pop radio frankly sucks donkey dongs.  This is a city of over 11 million people and instead of being on the cutting edge, we have two pop stations that play virtually the exact same thing and don’t even put a song into rotation until it hits the top twenty.  With no alternative and dance radio stations, this market is ripe for picking.  As such, I have yet to hear Adam on the radio, but am tortured by Kris Allen’s relatively lame “Live Like You Were Dying.”  Whateva!

It’s been a long while since we got anything new from the “Milkshake” girl Kellis, but her latest “Acapella” is simply amazing!  Fantanstic vocals and an amazing production by Dave Aude, this is a surefire crowd pleaser.

After the success of last year’s “Patron Tequila” by the Paradiso Girls comes the latest drinking song “Sex on the Beach” by Spanker.  In fact, I think we may be seeing a trend here that will get old pretty quick.  What’s next, a song about Corona?  Oh wait, that’s already been done.  How about Budweiser instead?  Regardless, this is a fun song as is “Something Like a Party” by newcomers School Gyrls.  Think Britney times 3 still pulling off the little parochial school girl look ten years later.  Clearly aimed at the Ke$sha market, this too will get old.

Finally, I want to give a shout out to the UK’s Rachel Ellektra.  I’m really digging a lot of her work lately and “Playing with Knives” featuring the vocals of the amazing Angie Brown is pure hard hitting house bliss!  Keep an eye out for her, because you will definitely be hearing more of her work in any given club in the very near future.

That’s ‘bout all I got for today.  I’ll be back tomorrow with part 2 and hopefully Sunday with the “on the house” special, part 3. Until then, enjoy!

Not many artists have successfully bridged the divide between spirituality, house music and the circuit scene.  Mary Mary has done it a couple of times, but their output is nominal at best.  In fact, Kim’s songs have been remixed by some of the biggest producers in the dance industry.  From Hex Hector, Thunderpuss, Tony Moran, Junior Vasquez, Mark Picchiotti and Razor ‘n’ Guido, the list reads like a who’s hot of any given year.

Often times it may seem ironic that her spiritual songs of hope and faith would be pounding through the speakers of any gay club form A – Z, but her music has parlayed itself into some of the greatest club anthems of all-time.  With hands in the air, roof raising power, her music transcended into something much larger than even she could have possibly imagined.

Nevertheless, Kim obviously found herself in a conundrum when on one hand her biggest fans were the gay community, and on the other hailing from a religious background that adheres to some of the strictest tenants of the Bible.

Clearly, she had the same problem that Donna Summer ran into in the early 90s.  In an interview she did with Metro Weekly she stated “I get the loudest cheering and the love feels strongest whenever I’m in front of a gay crowd.” “I feel more free [to be myself] among a gay crowd than I do at my church.” Then turns around in another interview with New York’s gay Next Magazine, while speaking about homosexuality: ‘’I don’t believe it’s a lifestyle God agrees with.” Then she goes onto say that homosexuality “is not God’s design; it’s a personal choice.'’ OUCH!

The GLBT community has become the new “Jews” of the 21st century.  With pending legislation in Uganda that would authorize the death penalty for gays and lesbians and anyone known to associate with them, and when mob rules against our community in other countries like Malawi,  this kind of hatred is potentially leading to another holocaust.  It is shameful, if not downright despicable that in this day in age, people need to find a scapegoat for their own failings.

Though I am no longer a practicing Catholic, I understand the conflictions that arise when reality confronts what you have always been taught.  At some point, you need to take a stand and not allow the antiquated teachings of anonymous priestly sources dictate who you are and what you stand for.  Jesus did not preach hatred, nor should anyone allow themselves to believe otherwise.  As such, in the spirit of Christianity, I can forgive her misstatements and/or lack of understanding.  Question is, can she accept and forgive us?

Kim, we’re waiting here with open arms, won’t you come out to play?  In these desperate times, we could sure use a healthy dose of joy.

So here it is, a decades worth of music that lifted our hearts and moved our bodies.  From “Unspeakable Joy” to “Everyday” with everything before and after, this set reads like a soundtrack to our lives.  enJOY!

With a heart full of soul and a voice that glides effortlessly between house music and jazz, Kim English embodies everything a true artist is composed of.  For over ten years, she has been delivering music that has not only kept us dancing but inspired us at ever turn.  With a strong belief in a higher power, her music encompasses all that is good in this world.  When she sings about finding the strength in one’s inner self or from those that surround her or even from the almighty, you know immediately that she means it.

Her music doesn’t go down the typical route of “you done me wrong” or “don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.”  Instead, she sings about faith and perseverance.  Her songs are about joy, love, happiness and self worth.  Even when she sings about lost love on “Treat Me Right”

I can’t make you love me I got to know who I’ am inside Cause I know my value I no longer waste my time There’s someone who’s for me Yes it is only a matter of time I’ am strong and can be alone Until I’m treated right

she demands R-E-S-P-E-C-T!  Mind you, not just as a person, but a woman on a mission to spread the message; in a polite way of course.

Kim is quite possibly the most unlikely diva to be honored in this series, but deserved nonetheless.  She doesn’t have a potty mouth and doesn’t thrill us with fancy costumes and jewelry.  No tricks or gimmicks here.  Instead, she captivates us with her voice and her music.  It’s for this very reason that Party Favorz is honoring Miss English by inducting her into the Diva Hall of Fame.  Step right up Kim, your honor awaits you.

I’ll be back tomorrow with part 2 and will discuss the failures of our fallen hero.  Not to belittle, but to provide understanding and forgiveness.  For now, entertain yourselves with the softer side of Kim.  Enjoy!
