I apologize for the delay, but I’ve been really busy working on the site and trying get all the back-end stuff fixed after Google left me out for dry.  No need to worry, this doesn’t concern most of you that have been following this site for a long while.  It mainly concerns those that are just now coming on board, and by the looks of it, there are many PF newbies!

In the meantime, I’m serving up a platter of deep, dark and delicious house music with a side of hot sauce to keep it extra spicy.  In fact, the majority of this set is pretty much peak hour, big room madness that explores the darker side of the progressive movement, while keeping the hooks a plenty!

The first three songs come at you like a ton of bricks.  Mr. Malo’s remake of the 1988 hi-nrg classic “S-Express” and Hi-Tack’s production of the 1999 Trance classic “Out of the Blue” by System F stay true to the originals while updating the sound for today’s floors.  The latter is nothing short of sweeping, majestic pleasure recalling the original with layer upon layer of thick heavy synths.

Since we’re on the remake kick I also dropped the Ultra Nate 90’s big house classic “Free.”  You may remember the breezy, bouncy Bob Sinclar take on my recent T-Dance Edition; well Teo Moss and Daniel Shems take the progressive route and deliver something new and fresh.  I was thinking the other day that I may very well expedite  Ultra through the nomination process and honor her by inducting her into the Diva Hall of Fame.  Stay tuned.

Every few years, Ish Ledesma of the late 70s group Foxy (Get Off), takes his late 80s girl group Company B and remixes one of their hits.  Over the years, “Fascincation” has definitely had it’s share, including a complete re-work by the fabulous Suzanne Palmer.  However, none of them ever really stood out for me; that is until now.  Veteran  DJ/producer Giuseppe D. had the good sense to keep the hooks of the original, while giving it that Millennium punch it desperately needed.  On the opposite end, Players Please deliver an unlikely progressive rendering of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “The Power of Love.”  Deep, very dark and definitely delicious!

Toni Braxton’s latest “Make My Heart” get’s a series of re-works courtesy of Atlanta records, her current label.  None of the original three that were sent out as promos made the final cut.  Instead, they went with other producers to promote this release.  Shame, because I am totally in love with the Behrouz remix, which is why I kept it in the set.  Regardless, their choices were still outstanding and you can expect the Alexander and Mark VDH production to be hitting up the Spring Edition.

Another BIG winner for me is “Ready For the Fight” by the always unpredictable Young Punx.  While there is a big electro remix by Wes Clarke, it’s all about the Gramaphonedzie (Marko Milicevic) remix for me.

Frankly, I think this entire set is one giant masterpiece of late night mayhem and I’m certain you’ll agree.  As promised, this one is OTH.  I’ll be taking the rest of the week off to give myself a break and allow you folks to digest everything that has already been posted this year.  I should be back the following week with the first two of a year long project I will be starting “Chrome: Millennium Edition (the First 10 Years).  It also appears that the Spring Edition will make an early appearance this year and of course I’m already lining ‘em up for the next T-Dance set, which by all accounts is shaping up to be pretty darn funky.

That’s all I got for today.  It’s hump day, so time to start thinking about the weekend.  After all, it’s all downhill from here!  I’ll be back next week.

Until then, ENJOY!

Before I get into this current set, I thought I would discuss some issues about the Fan Page http://www.facebook.com/partyfavorz that have been brought to my attention.  Several of you have indicated that you couldn’t access it via Facebook.  The only thing I can think of is that my privacy settings were locked down.  I’ve since lifted the restrictions and hopefully that will no longer be an issue.  You can always click on the “info” tab in my profile which has a link to the Fan Page, or you can access it via my site http://www.partyfavorz.net/, where I have a badge in the right hand column.  For those that haven’t signed up for the Fan Page, whatcha waitin’ for?  Whenever I post to my site, it will automatically be updated on my Fan Page and Twitter + I also send out an email to ensure receipt.

I have also added several tabs on my site that I think will answer a lot of your questions.  There is a “premium” tab which details how the site works, there is an “iTunes” tab with very specific instructions (including pictures) on how to download my podcasts via the service.  That’s important for subscribers to the premium service.  Since there are two feeds on my site; one for the “free” podcasts and the other for “premium” you will need to add both in iTunes to ensure you get everything.

I also added an FAQ section which has everything, and I mean EVERYTHING.  It answers virtually all questions about my site, including downloading, subscribing, RSS updates, email updates, how premium works including passwords and problems new users may encounter getting it to work.  It’s all there.  For those that prefer not to read, that’s fine, I’ll be more than happy to answer your question via email.  Just remember, I can’t be a slave to my computer so my response may not be as forthcoming as you might like, but I WILL get back to you.  Odds are, your question has already been answered in the FAQ section, so give it a try first.

Since I’ve expended much of my capital on information about the site, I’ll just let this mix speak for itself.  It’s much in the same vein of the previous set with some seriously smoking tunes all wrapped up in a neat little package that falls just under 80 minutes for the CD burners amongst you.

It’s yet another fabulous day in the ATL and I am so looking forward to getting out and enjoying it.  I’ll try to make it back tomorrow for the final set (which is on the house) before taking a week off to work on some other projects, including the finalization of the Millennium series that I plan on rolling out in two weeks.  I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and as always, ENJOY!

As the days just keep getting better, so does the need to P-A-R-T-Y like it’s 2010!  In keeping with that theme, I’m serving up volume 2 of the BPM Edition.

Kicking things off, is the latest from Lifehouse.  While we all know this group as the mainstay of Top 40 meat and potatoes rock, their latest effort stays true to their roots, with hooks a plenty.  Jody Den Broeder takes a shot at it, and delivers a surprisingly delicious dance production that even I had to take notice.

We also get Adam Lambert’s second release with the Pink penned tune “Whataya Want From Me” with Fonzerelli doing the remix honors.  This is just one of several great songs off of his amazing debut “For Your Entertainment.”  What’s sad is that ATL pop radio frankly sucks donkey dongs.  This is a city of over 11 million people and instead of being on the cutting edge, we have two pop stations that play virtually the exact same thing and don’t even put a song into rotation until it hits the top twenty.  With no alternative and dance radio stations, this market is ripe for picking.  As such, I have yet to hear Adam on the radio, but am tortured by Kris Allen’s relatively lame “Live Like You Were Dying.”  Whateva!

It’s been a long while since we got anything new from the “Milkshake” girl Kellis, but her latest “Acapella” is simply amazing!  Fantanstic vocals and an amazing production by Dave Aude, this is a surefire crowd pleaser.

After the success of last year’s “Patron Tequila” by the Paradiso Girls comes the latest drinking song “Sex on the Beach” by Spanker.  In fact, I think we may be seeing a trend here that will get old pretty quick.  What’s next, a song about Corona?  Oh wait, that’s already been done.  How about Budweiser instead?  Regardless, this is a fun song as is “Something Like a Party” by newcomers School Gyrls.  Think Britney times 3 still pulling off the little parochial school girl look ten years later.  Clearly aimed at the Ke$sha market, this too will get old.

Finally, I want to give a shout out to the UK’s Rachel Ellektra.  I’m really digging a lot of her work lately and “Playing with Knives” featuring the vocals of the amazing Angie Brown is pure hard hitting house bliss!  Keep an eye out for her, because you will definitely be hearing more of her work in any given club in the very near future.

That’s ‘bout all I got for today.  I’ll be back tomorrow with part 2 and hopefully Sunday with the “on the house” special, part 3. Until then, enjoy!

Pushing out the third installment of the BPM 2010 v1, I’m gonna take a leap and say this set will get your heart rate up!  Don’t be fooled by the bouncy fun of songs like “Rocket” by Goldfrapp, “Can U Dance” by DJ Fast Eddie or even Deepswing’s “In the Music” because this entire set is pretty relentless.  In fact, it doesn’t really start to let up until you get to the end when Flanders (Time) and the latest from Samantha James (Waves of Change) cools your heals.  I can honestly say this first BPM of 2010 and in particular this set, is some of the best work I’ve done in a long while.  Granted, it’s only as good as the music you have to work with.

I’ve already started working on the Winter Edition and that’s falling short on the big room, big voice divas that the Original Series is usually comprised of.  So, I may have to experiment a little with it.  Regardless, expect it to debut next week before VD.

I also want to let everyone know that I have changed the way “premium content” will be handled on this site.  Everything has been so crazy trying to consolidate the sites and shutting down Blogger that I didn’t give full consideration to all of my options.  So, what I have decided to do is go to a single monthly fee of $5.00 as opposed to the $2.99 per download.  Think of it like an “all you can eat” menu.  $5 bucks a month will get you unlimited access to any of the mixes coming out in 2010.  I will likely continue to offer one free mix from each series for those people that have yet to discover my site but everything else will require a monthly donation of $5.  I think that’s fair and less cumbersome for you guys (and gals) and frankly is a lot less work for me.  Those of you that have already purchased Take 2 of this series will receive an email (to the PayPal address you used) shortly with a password that will be good for 1 month of premium content access, so you won’t have to pay again.

That’s about all I have for today.  I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend wherever you are and whatever you’ll be doing and as always, ENJOY!

Kicking off this set is Mariah’s third release from her “Memoires of an Imperfect Angel” album.  What’s notable here is Jump Smokers have gone back and re-worked the entire album for a near future release and what a job they did!  I admit, I wasn’t all that happy with the album, but I think pumping some fresh blood into it may be it’s saving grace.

With the exception of Agnes’ “On & On” the first half of this set delves deeply into some seriously smoking hip hop via the electro route.  Folks, this is what I’ve been talking about.  The saving grace for hip hop is going to be electro.  While all of these are stellar tracks that’ll get you jumpin’ Bassmonkeys and Soulshaker serve up a really funky number on “Bad 4 My Health.”  With two separate memorable tag lines (Don’t blame me if I think with my hoo hoo) and (just call me and I’ll be there in a second) this song delivers the goods and then some.  The other is “Now You See It” by Honorebel with Pitbull, which has been blowing up all over dance floors.

The second half moves in a more mainstream direction starting with Keri Hilson’s latest “Slow Dance.”  Kaskade really works this number out with a throbbing immediate electro bassline.  Another personal favorite is the latest by Dragonette.  “Pick Up the Phone” may slow it down it bit, but it’s catchy as hell and is the type of song that relentlessly sticks in your brain.

Closing out this set we’ve got some reloaded classics.  ATB’s “9PM (Til I Come) is a surefire floor filler and Everything But the Girl’s “Missing” is taken to new heights.  Picking up where Todd Terry left off, DJ DLG adds some thick bass stabs, while retaining the integrity of the original of this late 90s classic.  Perhaps the oddest number in the bunch is the closing track “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King.  This is the original 60s classic given an electro makeover by Rachel Ellektra that surprisingly works very well.

I hope everyone’s having a great week.  I’ll be posting Take 3 of this set on Thursday and have already started in on the “Winter Edition” which is coming up short on new material.  Hopefully, some new tunes will start showing up this week, otherwise it will be my first single set in a long time.  I’ll be back in a couple of days.  Until then, enjoy!

Every once in a blue moon, everything just falls into place.  I can say without any modesty, that that is the case for the very first BPM Edition of 2010.  This and the upcoming final two sets that comprise volume 1 fell together with such ease that even I am amazed at how awesome these sets are.  I did perform some modest editing, but for the most part the songs are as is.  Basically, the only thing I had left to do was go back and remaster all the songs to rein them in for a smoother listening experience.  In short, this entire edition ROCKS!

By August of last year, I began experimenting with this series and started mixing in underground house with the mainstream.  I had received a perfectly legitimate critique of my work from someone on my Podbean site.  Basically, the song selection was redundant.  When the same producers remix everyone under the sun over and over, you run the risk of having your sets sounding the same or better yet, like a month old loaf of stale bread.  As a result, I started playing around with the set list and frankly, I’m more than pleased with the end result.  Going forward, this series will continue to be more inclusive of a variety of styles from electro, mainstream, funky and progressive house.  On the first two sets you’ll find a good mixture, while the third set relies more on underground house with a smattering of mainstream, which delivers a more peak hour feel.  The goal here is to hit all the right notes, without coming across as generic or the same shit everyone else is doing.  Just trying to keep it fresh.

Ultimately, my goal is to continue to deliver the finest selection of non-stop dance podcasts for your workouts, parties and/or drive time to and from work, while providing exposure for artists and producers that most of you may never had heard of otherwise.  The old saying goes “you have to spend money to make money” doesn’t necessarily apply here, because I just don’t even come close to covering my costs.  Nevertheless, I’ll be happy if I can break even and keep things chugging along.

Right now, it’s a balmy 34 degrees outside, though the sun is out; so who am I to bitch?  For me, any day with sunshine and without rain is like a gift from the gods and certainly one I don’t turn down.  So, I’m going to wrap this up and enjoy the rest of my day.  I hope everyone is staying warm and having a fabulous weekend.  I’ll be back on Tuesday with part two.  Until then, enjoy!

I bet you guys think I went off and forgot about you.  Well, I didn’t.  Things have just been a little hectic around here.  Rick finally had his biopsy on Tuesday and we were expecting results on Friday.  We did get a little glimmer of hope when they drew his blood and results showed him at 3.1 for his creatinine levels, well below the 4.0 the doctor wanted him at.  As Friday crept up on us, the doctor didn’t call and Rick pretty much had a melt down at work.  Though I’m not going to count our chickens before they’re hatched, I’m pretty confident that he will finally be off dialysis before Christmas.  Understanding how healthcare in America works, they’ve been milking his insurance for all that it’s worth.  Private insurance pays out more than Medicare, and to have a patient like him is like hitting the lottery.  I had Rick start getting his blood drawn elsewhere to prove my point and those results were consistently much lower than what his doctor was reporting.  Nevertheless, I fully expect the good doctor to show up on Wednesday bearing a Santa hat and give him the good news.  If that happens, I think he and I will count our blessings that this nightmare of uncertainty has finally ended.

As you can see, this past week has been all about my man and spending more time with him, while ensuring him everything is going to be alright.  During that time, I was able to get the majority of my work done at night, while he was asleep.  Rest assure, the Holiday Editions are finished and I’ll be previewing them shortly on one of my much treasured trips around the city on this beautiful sunny day (albeit chilly).  I’ll be posting a mix each day Monday through Wednesday to ensure I meet my deadline.  After that, I’ll be taking a much needed break and begin focusing on my own efforts.

I hope everyone has gotten all of their holiday shopping done and are simply gearing up for the upcoming festivities that will allow you to sit back and relax while taking stock of your life and the treasures that surround you.  Whether they’re obvious to you or not, trust me, they do exist; you just need to look a little harder and you’ll be surprised what you uncover.  I’ll be back tomorrow with the first of three smoking hot Holiday sets.

Until then, ENJOY!
