The sun is out and yesterday’s snow is melting away.  I got up early and headed out to Waffle House (they’ve got the best coffee in the world, hands down) and was driving down Cheshire Bridge Road admiring all the beauty that had accumulated all around me.  It was fun to watch it all melt right off the powerlines with ice falling everywhere.  Sadly, Rick left work early yesterday and it took him over three hours to get home.  Consequently, he was in a pissy mood once he got here and wasn’t up for making a snowman.  Maybe next time.

Yesterday, I was moving into a discussion about Valentines Day.  Now I’m sorry, this is nothing more than another corporate bullshit holiday, designed to part consumers with their money.  Now, if you’re honey is all tweaked because you didn’t get them anything, then they really don’t love you.  Frankly, love and appreciation should be given to those you care most about all year long.  You don’t need any specific day where society dictates how you should show your appreciation for another.  For me, sometimes I would show up with flowers for no reason; sometimes I would make reservations at a nice restaurant and spring it on Rick, even though there was no occasion to celebrate; sometimes I would pick him up a nice shirt or shoes when I was at the mall, not because he needed them, but because I thought he would like them; while other times I’ll give it up even when I wasn’t in the mood [grin].  Rick is also a voracious reader and once the dust settles on the competing technologies, I plan on springing an e-reader on him later this year for no other reason than I want to.  No need to worry, he doesn’t read my blog.

Nevertheless, this day of love has been so ingrained into our brains since childhood (remember the stupid VD cards you used to buy a box of and give them out to your teachers, friends and that someone special who put a twinkle in your eye), that it’s hard to ignore.  So in keeping with that tradition, I created the perfect cover art for all those who have been affected by cupid’s arrow.  Yes, I am a marketing genius and know full well, how to play the game.  In fact, I think the Winter Edition would be a perfect gift for the one you love. [grin]

Now that I’ve probably sapped all the love in your heart(s), let me inject some passion back into you.  This second set picks up where the first left off.  In fact, I originally made it as one long set when I didn’t think there would be enough for two.  A couple brand spanking new tunes came in this week that were so worthwhile, I extended the mix and then broke it in two pieces.  Using the synth line from Olive’s classic “You’re Not Alone,” Major Laser and Nina Sky’s “Keep It Goin Louder” has been on heavy rotation in my brain for several weeks now.  The Superchumbo mix kicks it up several notches making it peak-time ready for those late night floors.  Kim Sozzi is back with the ultra hot “Secret Love,” which also has an amazing Wendel Kos mix that will make its debut on the next BPM Edition.

PFF (Party Favorz Favorite) Inaya Day is back with the smoking “All I’m Sayin’” that delivers some hard hitting progressive beats, while pulling a positive vibe.  Equally, Georgia Brown’s “Love 4 Real” is as solid as they come with DJ Fist really working this one out.  Currently, these two songs are in Masterbeat’s Top two must have list.

Probably the biggest (and I mean BIGGEST) song here is Kristine W’s “The Power of Music.”  With her trademark power vocals and Tony Moran’s massive production, you can expect to be hearing this song in all of its incarnations throughout the spring.  With remixes by Tony, Groove Police, Wideboys, Joe Gauthreaux and more, there’s something here for everyone.  Looks like she’s well on her way to another #1 off of her amazing album by the same title.  Check out the ultra HOT video below.

It’s turned out to be a gorgeous day here in the ATL, but I’m not going to be able to experience it.  I’ve signed on for a couple more projects, which I”m actually going to get paid for, so I’ll have to wrap things up here.  As such, let me leave you with one last note from Alan T:

“It’s 2010 bitch, GET INTO IT!”  -Enjoy!

As I sit here waiting for the 2 inches of snow that was predicted to fall, I can’t help but wonder about all those folks on the east coast or even in the UK that have been buried underneath the stuff for much of the year.  To someone like me in the south, it’s pretty and fun.  Sure it can wreak havoc on the roads, as us backwards folks don’t know how to drive in it.  For me, I can appreciate the wonderment of it, but I wouldn’t want to live, muchless be stranded in it for any period of time.  Then again, it will last a day and the sun will be out tomorrow and melt it and all of its beauty away.  That being said, it is with great pleasure that I bring you the 2010 Winter Edition.

Not unlike an episode of “Project Runway” where one day you’re in and the next day you’re out, the Winter Edition will give way to the Spring Edition and we know what that means, right?  Gay Days is right around the corner!  I, like much of you, am always ready to move on to the next thing.  Dance music is typically fleeting with several memorable moments caught on the dancefloor or even in the gym throughout the year.  But let’s face it, it lasts about as long as a one night stand.  You get up and look over at the drudge you’ll pulled out of the club the night before and think to yourself, “NEXT!”  Now I could lead into this useless holiday that’s right around the corner, but I think I’ll save it for tomorrow’s post.  Hey, a girl doesn’t just give it up all at once, even if she is on a roll!

In the meantime, I’m serving up a heaping platter of Party Favorz!  While I don’t want anyone to get too full, because we still have desert tomorrow, there are definitely some choice selections on today’s menu.  Starting with the always fabulous Miss Mary, “I Am” proves her place in dance music heaven is rightfully reserved.  Granted, Geffen didn’t put out any official mixes for the single, but Nick Harvey swooped in a delivered a massive uplifting bag of joy with his production.  This is followed by a surefire floor filler “Party Around the World.”  With Jason Dottley’s snarky phrasing backed by Debbie Holiday’s massive vocals, this Barry Harris production hits all the right notes with its island party grooves.

Our girl Andrea Carnell is back with a classic 90s remake that has already been burning up dancefloors around the globe with “Don’t Stop Movin.”  With HUGE vocals that could give Kristine W a run for her money and a powerhouse production by Klubjumpers, this one’s heading to the top!  Speaking of massive vocals, Kimberly Davis really delivers the goods on “Get Up.”  Ladies, we’re talking ANTHEM!

And what would this set be without the already massive comeback single “Louis Vuittons” oops, I meant “Louboutins” by J-Lo.  I think this must be the third version that appeared on any of my podcasts since December.  Expect one final take as the Moto Blanco mix will be delivered on my upcoming T-Dance Edition.  Other goodies include newcomer Selena Gomez’ “Naturally” and the “Housewives of Atlanta” reality star Kim Zolciak’s “Tardy for the Party.”  Okay, okay I know she can’t sing, but give the woman her due.  Everyone wants to prolong their fame beyond the alloted 15 minutes and with voice disguisers, why not? <snark>

That’s a wrap!  I’ll be back tomorrow with volume 2.  Right now, I’ve got snow on my mind and it still ain’t here!  I guess no sissy snowman for me.  Until tomorrow, ENJOY!

Here at Party Favorz, we (meaning I) never rest on our laurels.  As such, I am sending up my final mix of the year so I can spread joy and happiness to all of my fellow gay men (and women) throughout the world this season.  This final mix continues much in the same vein as its predecessors, with a little Christmas cheer thrown in to round out the mix.

I realize that many of you in the US and the UK are just now digging your way out of the snow, while many more of you in the Midwest are gearing up for massive blizzards in the next couple of days.  If it’s any conciliation, the ATL has been having beautiful sunny days in the low 60s, which we are going to lose tomorrow as the rain heads south (oh joy).  At the very least, if you’re stuck and can’t go out, you can make your own little party.  Just make sure your fridge is stocked and that your significant other or BB (best buddy, what did you think I meant!?!!) is with you before the storm.

I’ll be back early tomorrow with my final thoughts of 2009, the year that was and will NEVER be again.  So sit tight my little PFr’s, Santa will be back one last time before signing off for the year.  Until then, ENJOY!

I guess I should stop making promises for a certain date, as things inevitably come up.  At least I’m only a day late with plenty of time before Halloween and Pride (for the ATL) this weekend.  Anywho, let’s get down to it.

This particular mix is decidedly more circuit oriented with lots of big room beats to spread around.  One of my big big favorites of the moment is the Simone Denny and Barry Harris collaboration “Drama Queen.”  Ooh, did I just write Barry Harris?  You bet!  The former half of Thunderpuss has now returned from exile with his guns blazing!  One of the things I didn’t get around to mentioning in the recent Chrome Edition 2003, was that 2003 was the year Thunderpuss split, despite the fact that the TP franchise was still very much in demand by artists and club goers around the globe.  Both Barry and Chris gave separate interviews to About.com in 2004 which cover their early years and how Thunderpuss came about down to their amicable split in 2003.  Fast forward to 2009, and Barry’s back with “Drama Queen” a ripping track where circuit meets 80s electronica.  This is a hot original production from Barry that attempts to break up the monotony of many of today’s circuit tracks.  While the actual song doesn’t cover any new territory, it’s familiar theme rings well with the gay crowd; but it’s the actual production that people will be shaking to.  I’m hoping this isn’t a one off and that we’ll be getting even more from Barry in the near future.  For now, all I want to say is “welcome back Barry, we missed you!”

I also want to give a HUGE shoutout to my new favorite producer Matt Moss from New York.  A graphic designer by day (he’s gotta pay the bills) and producer/DJ/remixer the rest of the time, like many of us, Matt has been hit by the recession.  Matt approach’s each production based on what the song requires rather some cookie cutter formula where you just slap on the vocals over the same basic beats like many other producers do (without mentioning names).  It’s his unique style and unquestionable understanding of his craft that makes him a surefire bet for success.  I’ve included two of his mixes in this set.  The first “Wendy Williams Theme” an ode to the infamous gossip talk trash radio host, which is nothing short of pure fun!  The second mix is Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” which he has completely re-worked from top to bottom making this a welcome addition for the upcoming Pride festivities this weekend in the ATL.  Matt seems to think these are not his best work, and maybe not (I haven’t had the chance to listen to everything), but they are outstanding productions that are sure to move the boys on any dancefloor from coast to coast.  You can check out Matt’s work on his blog at mattmossforever.com.  Make sure to drop him a note, especially if you pick up anything for use in your own sets.  I promise you, he’s a really nice guy without the attitude and like most of us, would love to have some feedback about his work.

Finally, you may have noticed an Eagles song in the tracklist.  Last year’s Halloween Edition included the memorable remake of the Ministry classic “(Every Day is) Halloween” by Dangerous Muse.  I didn’t really have anything that would fit for this year’s gay ghouls and goblins, but when I recently came across Alex Dubbing’s rework of “Hotel California” I knew this was an absolute must.  Check out the lyrics and you’ll understand why:

Mirrors on the ceiling, The pink champagne on ice And she said, we are all just prisoners here, of our own device And in the master’s chambers, They gathered for the feast The stab it with their steely knives, But they just can’t kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before Relax, said the night man, We are programmed to receive. You can checkout any time you like, But you can never leave!

And that’s my wrap-up for the week.  I’m going to be super busy the next two or three weeks, but will somehow manage to complete the much delayed gay anthems I had been promising.  I’ve already have the rest of the year planned out with 3 –5 Diva Series in the works (and no, I’m not giving it away) maybe two more BPM sets, one T-Dance, The Holiday Edition and finally the Year-End Edition.  Still, that’s quite a bit a work I’ve got ahead of me, though the best thing is to let everyone know what’s coming up, but without actual dates since everything is subject to change.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week, as well as the Halloween weekend.  I’m certain there will be no shortage of parties wherever you are.  I’ll be back sometime next week with the first of the gay anthems.  Until then…ENJOY!

Halloween is just around the corner; the time of year where all the queens attempt to outdo each other with the most outrageous and fabulous getup our deranged minds can conjure.  To make the holiday even more fun, the ATL is celebrating our very first Pride over the weekend, ensuring a larger than normal turnout.  Think about it, Halloween and Pride all it once, that’s a lot of goodness wrapped up in one weekend.  Even better, Pride returns to Piedmont Park since the drought of 2007-08.  In fact, the city council just authorized all the bars to maintain extended serving hours.  So, if the weather can hold up and sunshine and cooler temps prevail, this should prove to be an outstanding event.  Then again, I’m looking at the weather for today in Google and it shows sunshine, when in fact we are still overcast and 59 degrees.  I guess we’ll just have to think positive.  The sad part is, I won’t be able to attend.  Those of you that follow me on my personal page on Facebook, know that I am currently undergoing physical therapy after my recent surgery.  With my recent increase in dosage being dripped into my spine and setbacks on the therapy side, I don’t think I would even be able to hobble around the park.  It’s a shame, because in the spirit of treats, I had planned to hit the park and few bars in my PF T-shirt and give away a bunch of promo CDs.  It’s something I’ve done several times before and a lot of fun; just not this go around.  I’ll go more into detail tomorrow on my next update in Facebook.

In the meantime, I’m serving up a seriously HOT circuit adventure for all the boys.  Initially, I was concerned because there just wasn’t that much out at the moment and the Autumn Edition had pretty much sapped out all the new music.  Never fear!  I started scouring Beatport for some cool house tunes that would mix in well with what I already had and came up with a real winner in diversity and depth.   Let’s face it , all tribal beats all the time gets boring and you can expect I’ll be going back to my mixed bag method on these mixes in the future.  I think it just ads more interest and color to the overall set and keeps you (especially me) from getting bored.

The hot tunes to single out here are Depeche Mode’s “Perfect” the follow up to “Wrong” with Ralphi doing the remix honors and let’s just say this is smoking!  Bingo Players deliver “Devotion” in a HUGE way.  For those that aren’t familiar with the original, it was a #1 club hit by Nomad in 1991.  Bingo Players take the original and beef it up bringing this classic to a whole new generation of house lovers.  Another remake of sorts, is Malente’s “I Like It” which utilizes the famous KC & the Sunshine Band riff from “(That’s the Way) I Like It.  Currently, this song has been sitting in Beatport and Juno’s Top Ten for well over a month.  Maybe not your typical fare, but I assure you once the groove get’s going, it works in a big way.

Indie darling from the UK, Florence and the Machine, deliver the infectious “You Got the Love” with wonderfully unique vocals while Steve Pitron and Max Sanna re-work it for the dancefloor.  This has been a surefire winner for me and something I’ve enjoyed listening to over and over.  I brought back Ron Perkov’s “Miss You” only because I’m really getting into the Mike Rizzo mix.  This song has an abundance of mixes, and I had used Tony Moran’s take in the Autumn Edition. Other’s prefer Manny’s take, but I’m generally over him at the moment.  I also added Agne’s massive hit “Release Me” with Razor n’ Guido doing the honors. I have to say it’s almost like they never left us.  God bless the Razor n’ Guido.

Finally, I included Mariah’s “IWKWLI” which for all the mixes it came with, the Nu Addiction club mix is the only one that even comes remotely close to doing it justice.  I’m hoping Sony will pull out the money bag and serve us with a second set of mixes by Tony or Chris (amongst many possibilities) as a good contrast to the Mickey Mouse productions that were delivered.  One can always dream.

Finally, I want to send out a friendly reminder to everyone who hasn’t yet voted for Party Favorz in the Blogger’s Choice Awards, to please take a moment of your time and help this site out by voting.  It would mean a lot to me if everyone that reads, streams and downloads from this site would do me this one little favor.  Thanks for your time and consideration.

That’s about it for now.  Here’s to a fabulous weekend for all!  I have the second set all ready to go and should have that available for everyone on Monday.  Until then, ENJOY!
